Roundtable at the Labour Party Conference 2026 hosted by the Work Foundation and 快播视频 that will discuss how Labour can ensure AI advances equality at work.

The Government has placed AI at the heart of its plans to boost productivity, transform public services and drive economic growth.

But as AI becomes more influential in recruitment, pay, performance management, work allocation and restructuring, it could either help dismantle workplace inequalities or reinforce them.

This challenge comes as Labour prepares to introduce mandatory ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting and action plans for large employers, alongside strengthened gender pay gap requirements. These reforms could provide greater transparency and accountability, helping to drive positive change and tackle enduring inequalities. But they must keep pace with rapidly changing technology.

How can Government ensure AI adoption by employers supports fair pay, inclusive recruitment and better progression for women, disabled people and ethnic minority workers? What safeguards are needed to prevent biased or opaque automated decisions? And how can employers involve workers and trade unions in shaping workplace AI, while ensuring everyone can access the skills and opportunities it creates?

This roundtable will bring together policy-makers, employers, trade unions and academics to discuss how Labour can align its AI, industrial strategy and equality agendas so technological change delivers better jobs, fairer workplaces and shared prosperity.
