In true Saturday matinee style, the feature film was preceded by a short, Humphrey Jennings\u2019s <em>Spare Time<\/em>. Inspired by <a title=\"Mass Observation website - opens in new tab\" href=\"https:\/\/boltonworktown.co.uk\/about\/mass-observation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mass Observation<\/a> and its \u2018Worktown\u2019 project, Jennings\u2019s 1939 documentary looks at the leisure activities of coal, steel and cotton communities across Britain, with footage from Sheffield, Manchester and Pontypridd as well as Bolton.<\/p>\n<p>More details on the event can be found in Annette&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/fass\/projects\/cmda\/index.php\/2022\/01\/17\/cmda-goes-to-worktown\/\">blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Video of Event Presentation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>This is a video of the slideshow used to accompany the CMDA introductory talk which contains some audio clips from Bolton interviewees.
